Human beings have general intelligence because their minds able to make approximate decisions.
If you develop AI without this critical feature (approximate decision making) then such AI wouldn't have general intelligence...

Dennis,
Not all mistakes are stupid by my definition ;-).
Making a stupid mistake = making a mistake even though all the
resources needed to not make the mistake are available.
I agree that it's practically impossible for our AI systems to avoid
mistakes (because of various limitations).
